Join us for a lively book discussion with snacks provided by the library. Registration is ongoing.

The first-person account of a young African-American woman who finds herself shunted in time between her Los Angeles, California home in 1976 and a pre-Civil War Maryland plantation. There she meets her ancestors: a proud black freewoman and a white planter who has forced her into slavery and concubinage. As her stays in the past become longer, the young woman becomes intimately entangled with the plantation community.

This month, Kindred will be read side-by-side with Damian Duffy's 2017 graphic adaptation of the novel. Attendees can read either or both.

Books will be available at the Reference Desk one month before the scheduled discussion. You can download the original novel ebook here, and the adaptation ebook here or here
