The 2022 Long Island Reads pick is The Living and the Lost by Ellen Feldman. The author will speak in person on Sunday, May 1, 2022 at the Plainview-Old Bethpage Library, 999 Old Country Road, Plainview, NY 11803.

The Living and the Lost is an illuminating historical drama set in a lesser-known historical period—the immediate postwar era and Berlin before the wall, delving into the complications and compromises that come with the end of war.

Your Eventbrite ticket is required for admission to the live event.

Plainview-Old Bethpage Library requires proof of current vaccination for entry to this program. Please provide proof of vaccination.

Doors will open at 1pm.

Seating is first come, first seated.

Books will be available for purchase and signing.

Ellen Feldman, a 2009 Guggenheim fellow and Amagansett, Long Island resident, is the author of Terrible Virtue, The Unwitting, Next to Love, Scottsboro (shortlisted for the Orange Prize), The Boy Who Loved Anne Frank (translated into nine languages), Paris Never Leaves You and Lucy. She grew up in northern New Jersey and attended Bryn Mawr College, from which she holds a B.A. and an M.A. in modern history. After further graduate studies at Columbia University, she worked for a New York publishing house.
