Join author and historian Richard F. Welch in exploring the remarkable and multifaceted Revolutionary War career of Setauket native Benjamin Tallmadge. A gifted leader of dragoons, intelligence and counter-intelligence officer, and master of combined land-and-sea operations, Tallmadge played a critical role in the Patriot war effort.

Tallmadge fought at the Battles of Long Island, White Plains, and Germantown, defended Patriot civilians in Westchester from British and Loyalist raids, and—while commanding his own legion—launched daring attacks against British outposts on Long Island from bases in Connecticut. At the same time, Tallmadge managed General George Washington’s most consistently active espionage network in Long Island and New York and was instrumental in uncovering the Arnold–André plot to betray West Point.
